The Dr. M. Daria Haust Pathology Studentship funds one position for Queen’s medical students in the summer immediately after their first or second year of medical school. These students undertake research, clinical, and/or academic endeavours within the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University.
Dear 1st & 2nd year Queen’s Medical Students, Queen’s University, Kingston:
I would like to encourage Queen’s medical students in first or second year to apply for the Dr. M. Daria Haust Pathology Summer Studentship.
This opportunity is generously funded by a donation from Dr. M. Daria Haust, who was a Pathologist and Queen’s alumnus. Funding will be $875 per week for a student to undertake an 8 to 10-week studentship in the Queen’s Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine over the summer break.
There is considerable flexibility in structure of the studentship depending on the interests of the successful candidate. The student will participate in one or more areas of clinical pathology (e.g. autopsy service, surgical pathology, molecular diagnostics or other clinical labs) and engage in a research project or critical enquiry under the supervision of a faculty member.
Please review the accompanying application form for additional information. You will see that you are asked to provide a one-page summary of a proposed project and the name of an identified supervisor. For assistance connecting with appropriate faculty members in our department or for additional information about clinical/research opportunities, please contact Dr. Kris Cunningham who will be happy to help in this regard.
This is an excellent opportunity to understand a bit more about Pathology as a career opportunity.
Yours sincerely,
David Berman, MD, PhD
Head, Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine

Application deadline are mid-February, annually.
Recipients of the award are asked to please keep us apprised of any future presentations or publications resulting from this project by completing the online form.
